Collect SayIt Log Files for Troubleshooting User Issues

If users are experiencing problems while using the SayIt client, use Logging to collect and view diagnostic information about error messages, dictation timing, bandwidth, and summary statistics that occur while a user is logged in to the client. Logs can be collected and logging can be enabled in SayIt for the current session, or it can be enabled in nVoq.Administrator to collect the log each time the user signs in to SayIt for up to 30 days.

From SayIt -  Problem Just Occurred & User is Still Logged In

  1. In SayIt, press Ctrl + ? menu to open the expanded Help menu.
  2. Select Log Viewer.
    • This opens the user’s log file, which includes WARN and ERROR message information by default.
  3. Click the Upload button.
    • This sends a copy of the user log file to the server and opens the Log Upload window which includes a path to a Zip file of the user’s log.
  4. Copy the file path (manually) and email it to nVoq Support along with information about the problem the user experienced.
  5. Click OK to close the Log Upload window.
  6. Click Close to close the Log Viewer window.

From SayIt - Turn Up Logging Level While User is Logged In

  1. In SayIt, press Ctrl + ? menu to open the expanded Help menu.
  2. Select Diagnostics.
  3. Change the Global Log Level from WARN to TRACE.
    • This updates the logging level so all activity will appear in the user log, rather than just WARN and ERROR message.
    • This setting only remains until the user closes SayIt. When SayIt is re-launched, the setting will go back to WARN.
  4. BEFORE THE USER LOGS OUT OF SAYIT, have them repeat the problem.
  5. Open the diagnostics menu again (Ctrl + ?) and select Log Viewer.
  6. Click the Upload button.
  7. Copy the file path (manually) and email it to nVoq Support along with information about the problem the user experienced.

From nVoq.Administrator - Problem Just Occurred & User is Still Logged In

BEFORE the user logs out of SayIt:

  1. Go to the Logging page in nVoq.Administrator and REQUEST CLIENT LOGS

From nVoq.Administrator – Turn Up Logging Level and Collect Logs for Extended Period

  1. Go to the Logging page in nVoq.Administrator and TURN ON LOGGING for the account for 30 days.
If the user reports the problem again within the 30-day period that logging is enabled, we can look at the log that was created just before the problem occurred. (Modified Time = Last Login)
