Java: Clear Java Cache

 If SayIt was launched from an executable (.exe) file instead of with Java Web Start, the instructions on this page are not applicable. 

Sometimes deleting the Java cache directory works when simply "clearing" Java cache does not.

  1. Click on Apple icon at the top-left of the screen.
  2. Select System Preferences from the menu.
  3. In the System Preferences window, click on Java icon (coffee mug, shown right).
    The Java Control Panel opens in a separate window.
  4. In Java Control Panel click the Settings button under Temporary Internet Files.
  5. Click the Delete Files button on Temporary Files Settings window
  6. This will open the Delete Files and Applications window. Put a checkmark next to Cached Applications and Applets, then click OK.
  7. Click OK on the Temporary Files Settings window.
  8. Click OK on the Java Control Panel window.
  9. Try to launch SayIt again.
  10. If the problem persists, turn on Java logging.

Delete Java Cache Manually (Windows)

  1. Exit all browser windows and Java Web Start applications.
  2. Go to the Java Deployment directory at %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\. 
  • You can open that directory easily by right-clicking on the Start menu and select Open Windows Explorer. 
  • In Windows Explorer, copy and paste %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\log\ into the address bar.
  1. Delete the directory named cache.

  1. Try to launch SayIt again.
  2. If you are unable to launch SayIt, try turning on Java logging.

Clear Java Cache & Enable Logging with SayIt Diagnostics Helper (Windows)

This utility will clear your Java cache (even if you don't have access to your Java Control Panel) and it will turn on Java logging

  1.  Exit all your browser windows and Java Web Start applications, including SayIt.
  1. Run the utility.

  1. Run the utility again and delete the Deployment directory.
  • Run the utility again: https://nvoq.app.box.com/sayit-diagnostics-helper.
  • Click the Download button
  • Click Run when asked to run sayit-diagnosatics-helper.exe
    • The utility opens a folder located at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\log.  In that open window, click on Java in the folder path to open that folder.

  • In the Java folder, DELETEthe Deployment folder.

  • Close all utility windows and try to launch SayIt again. 
  • If SayIt works now, stop here. If not, continue to Step 4.
  1. Run the utility one more time and send us your logs.

The utility opens a folder located at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\log. 

  • Leave this folder open and try to launch SayIt again
  • When you attempt to launch SayIt, you will see files appear in the open folder. 
  • Send the files in the C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\log folder to support@nvoq.com
