Topic Update: Next Release

info.gifWe have improved the probability of the changes listed below returning accurately.
If you find that specific terms are not still working correctly after a topic release, we recommend adding vocabulary and/or substitutions to improve recognition. Additionally, transcripts in which words are not recognized accurately should be corrected so we can harvest them and add them to the appropriate topic's corpus.

Changes listed on this page may be available on the Test system (test.nvoq.com), but there could be some that are not there yet.

Each item lists the topic version number in which it was tested (e.g. 20250218). To see the topic version currently deployed on Test, visit Topic Updates on Test System.

All Topics (General Accuracy)

  • Improved Handling of Prefixes in Dictation – (D-13881; 20251020) In previous topic releases, some words that began with prefixes such as “post” or “mid” were not combined correctly with the root word. For example, “postsurgical” might have appeared incorrectly as “pos tsurgical.” This issue has been fixed, and words like “postsurgical” and “midlateral” now appear correctly as single, combined terms.

  • Improved Recognition of the Word “Hyphen” – (D-13928, 20251020) After the topic release on August 15, 2025, an issue was discovered where saying “hyphen” sometimes still returned the word itself instead of the punctuation mark (-). For example, “C one hyphen bisected shave” was transcribed as “C1 hyphen bisected shave” instead of “C1-bisected shave.” This issue, which occurred when the words before and after “hyphen” were not numbers, was initially addressed in item D-13855 but was later found to persist. We have corrected this behavior again, and “hyphen” now consistently returns the punctuation mark as expected.

Pathology

  • Added Support for “Why are you” – (D-138688; 20250707) Added support to ensure the phrase "Why are you" is correctly returned, rather than being misrecognized as "Wire U."

  • Reduced Non-Pathology Terms (S-18454, S-18463 - 20250716; S-18521, 8/6/2025, 20250804) The occurrence of non-pathology terms appearing within the Pathology topic has been significantly reduced.

  • Added Support for Words Missing in Transcripts - (D-13879, 20250805) Words like “a,” “I,” “with,” and “group” were previously reported as missing from transcripts, even though they were included in the dictation. Improvements have been made that should help these words appear more consistently in future transcriptions.

  • Reduced Unexpected Words in Transcripts – (D-13878, 20250811) Made improvements to reduce instances where words like “favor ankle” or “hyper” could appear in transcripts even when they weren’t spoken.

  • Topic Word Changes - (S-18592, 20250908) The Pathology topic was updated with edits to just over 2,400 words. Changes include adding new terms, and removing or revising others for improved accuracy.

  • More Topic Word Changes - (S-18629, 20250925) We refined the Pathology topic by adding and removing select words, updating pronunciations, and improving spelling and formatting. These adjustments keep terminology current and consistent.

  • Even More Topic Word Changes - (S-18685, 202521014) The topic was further refined by adding and removing select words, updating pronunciations, and improving spelling and formatting.
