Admin: Delete Vocabulary

Deleting a vocabulary term will permanently remove it.

  1. Go to the Vocabulary page in nVoq.Administrator. 
    • Optionally, click the Manage icon in the sidebar to hide the sidebar while you work.

  2. Select the appropriate radio button to remove terms from an account or an organization: 
    1. Remove a vocabulary term from a specific user account

      1. Select the Account radio button.
      2. Then select an account from the Account menu. 
        • The menu will display a maximum of 250 accounts. If there are more than 250 accounts in the selected organization, the bottom of the menu will say, "Showing 250 out of [#] possible accounts."
        • Use the Find Account field at the top of the menu to find any account that exists in the selected organization, even if it is not displayed in the menu.

        • Hover your mouse over the account in the list to see the username in a tooltip if it's cut off on the menu.

    2. Remove a vocabulary term from an organization

      1. Select the appropriate organization from the organization menu at the very top of the screen. 
        • Navigate this menu by using the Expand All button to open all organizations, by clicking the > arrow next to each organization level to open it, or by typing an organization name in the Filter text field.
        • You can delete vocabulary from multiple organization levels at once (e.g. if you select a company, you can delete from the company as well as divisions and groups below it).
      2. Select the Organization radio button
      3. Then select the appropriate Show Organization radio button to view the existing vocabulary for the selected organization:
        • Choose selected and parents to see vocabulary created for the organization selected in the Organization menu and all parent organizations above it.
        • Choose only selected to see vocabulary created for only the organization selected in the Organization menu.
        • Choose selected and children to see vocabulary created for the organization selected in the Organization menu and all child organizations below it.

  3. Click the book icon to select the terms you wish to remove.
    • You can delete any vocabulary term that is visible on the page as long as you have the ability to make changes for the organization level at which it was added.
    • You can use the Search field to find the term you want to remove.
    • You can select multiple terms to delete more than one at a time.
    • To remove ALL terms in the list you are viewing click the checkbox at the top of the list.

  4. Click the Delete icon in the blue toolbar to go to delete the selected vocabulary terms.VocabularyDelete-click-trash-icon-19-0-0
  5. A delete confirmation will let you know how many terms will be deleted and let you know that deleting terms will permanently remove them. Click the Yes, delete vocabulary words button to permanently remove the selected terms.VocabularyDelete-confirmation-19-0-0
    • Deletion of vocabulary occurs asynchronously, which means that after removing the terms in nVoq.Administrator, affected user profiles are updated with changes in the background. Dictation client users can still perform dictations while vocabulary is being updated on the server.
    • If the vocabulary terms were deleted successfully, a green message will appear near the top-right of the page saying something like, "Hooray! Deleted [#] vocabulary words. This may take some time." Vocabulary-delete-success
