Mobile Voice Android: Accessibility

Mobile Voice is now more accessible for visually impaired users. A screen reader has been added that can do some basic functions.


The following keys have verbalized functionality when TalkBack is enabled on your device:

  • Tap the Shortcuts button: TalkBack stay says "Shortcuts button"
  • Tap the Note Assist button: TalkBack stay says "Note Assist button" 
  • Tap the Intelligent Formatting button: TalkBack stay says "Intelligent Formatting button" 
  • Tap the Microphone/Dictation button: TalkBack says "Microphone"
    • When you record a dictation, the transcript is not displayed until you tap the microphone button again to stop the dictation. (Real-time dictation text, a.k.a. "hypothesis text," is disabled when TalkBack is active.)
    • Once the transcript displays, TalkBack reads it.
  • Tap the Enter Key: TalkBack says "Enter"
  • Tap the Shift key: TalkBack says "Shift"
  • Tap the Delete key: TalkBack says "Delete"
  • Tap the Backspace key: TalkBack says "Backspace"
  • Tap the Control key: TalkBack says "Control"
  • Tap the Left Arrow Key: TalkBack says "Arrow Left"
  • Tap the Right Arrow Key: TalkBack says "Arrow Right"
  • Tap any letter key: TalkBack says the name of the letter along with the NATO" phonetic alphabet word (e.g. "F. Foxtrot.")
  • Double tap, but hold (long press) on the second tap a key with special characters available, such as 3 or e. The special characters display in a menu above the key. Tap a special character on the menu and TalkBack will say the special character name.
