A microphone is required to use dictation with nVoq Voice or an nVoq partner dictation client, but which microphone you choose and use is very important.
Choose a good microphone.
Not all microphones are created alike. Some do not have clear enough audio to be completely understood by the dictation engine. If the microphone you use doesn't have acceptable audio quality, your dictation transcript won't have acceptable accuracy.
- Take a look at the Microphone Audio Examples documentation to hear the difference.
It's best to use a microphone that is approved by nVoq. We recommend several wired USB headsets, or you may also be able to use your Android or iOS phone as a microphone using our free Wireless Microphone app.
- Take a look at the Recommended Microphones for nVoq Dictation to see what we recommend.
Use the right microphone.
Once you've selected your microphone you will want to make sure that your computer is using it for your voice client. It may be necessary to disable extra microphones to ensure the correct one is being used.
- Take a look at Enable the Microphone to see how to do this.
