All nVoq Products

  • Change to Version Numbering - The version number format for all nVoq products has been updated so that patch version numbers no longer include a leading zero. For example, the About screen in nVoq.Voice may list the version as 16.2.01, but in the Windows Add or Remove Programs window it would be listed as 16.1.1. Going forward nVoq products will follow semantic versioning (e.g. 16.1.1) which does not include the leading zero before the patch number. (B-16188, 9/24/2021)

nVoq Dictation 17.0.1

The updates in this section impact all dictation clients, including SayIt, nVoq.Voice, and nVoq.Mobile Voice as well as ISV partner clients using nVoq dictation.
  • Special Words Missing from the End of STABLETEXT Transcripts on ReDS - The ReDS was not returning "special" words at the end of a STABLETEXT dictation (a.k.a. "Direct Text" in SayIt). These special words include "plus," "minus," and "dash."  In STABLETEXT dictations, these words (or the symbol for them) are held back until the dictation server knows what comes next. In the case where the dictation ended after one of these words was spoken, the ReDS was missing logic to return the word or symbol in the transcript. This has been fixed. (D-12847, 12/20/2021)
  • Intermittent Cancelled Dictations Hanging ReDS - Improvements were made to the ReDS to help ensure that the server clears all cancelled dictations properly instead of occasionally becoming unresponsive and rejecting new dictations. (D-12858, 1/7/2022)
  • Log4j Updated - All components and webservices have been updated to utilize the latest version of Log4j to mitigate security vulnerabilities caused by the Log4j flaw. (B-16427, 1/12/2022)
  • Fix for Dictations Returning Slowly - Some dictations, particularly those with poor audio like very fast, hard to understand speech or with music playing in the background, were returning very slowly for users due to a processing issue with a new decoder in the ReDS.  To mitigate this issue in production the ReDS servers were taken offline. In the 17.0.1 release, the ReDS will process these dictations more efficiently so that audio is processed faster than the EDS. (D-12868, 1/20/2022)
  • Logging Added to Diagnose Combined Words Forming Gibberish Text on EDS - It was reported that some users were occasionally seeing some words in their dictation combined into gibberish words in their dictated transcripts. Since we are unable to reproduce this issue internally, logging has been added to the EDS in hopes of learning more about what may be causing this. (D-12884, 2/7/2022)
  • 404 Error When Attempting to Download Audio - A customer reported a 404 error when attempting to download audio for batch dictations. The dictations, processed by the EDS, appear in Review & Correct without a transcript.  A property was added to the EDS webservice to fix this issue. (D-12896, 2/16/2022)

SayIt and AgentAssist 17.0.0

  • Refactored Password and Username Recovery Pages - The previous username and password recovery web pages have been replaced with new ones that use the same framework as nVoq.Administrator. This is the web page that you get to by clicking on the "Forgot username or password?" link on the sign in screen. The new pages look more like nVoq.Administrator, but the functionality of the pages is the same as before. (B-16011, 9/30/2021)
  • EULA Removed - The End User License Agreement (EULA) has been removed from SayIt. Instead there is will be a new Master Software Subscription Agreement (MSSA) on nVoq's legal page at https://sayit.nvoq.com/company/legal/. Users will no longer be presented with this agreement the first time they sign in or after an upgrade. (B-16461, 2/18/2022)

nVoq.Voice 17.0.1

New Features & Improvements in nVoq.Voice

  • Refactored Password and Username Recovery Pages - The previous username and password recovery web pages have been replaced with new ones that use the same framework as nVoq.Administrator. This is the web page that you get to by clicking on the "Forgot username or password?" link on the sign in screen. The new pages look more like nVoq.Administrator, but the functionality of the pages is the same as before. (B-16011, 9/30/2021)
  • Hotkeys Must Be Unique - In previous releases of nVoq.Voice it was possible to assign the same keyboard key (or keys) to be your hotkey for dictation, popup shortcuts, and (if applicable) Note Assist. It wouldn't work very well, but the application did not stop you from doing it. In the 17.0.1 release, Voice will no longer allow this. If you attempt to assign a key (or keys) as the hotkey for one feature (e.g. dictation) that is already assigned to another (e.g. popup shortcuts), you will see a warning message that states, "Hotkeys must be unique" and the application will not allow the key (or keys) to be assigned. (B-16089, 12/3/2021)
  • Easier to Access Settings, About, Documentation, and Sign Out - In the previous releases you had to access the Settings window using the Voice icon in the Windows system tray menu, which many people did not realize was even there. Now you can easily access the Settings window using a new gear icon that appears below the dictation button on the lower-left side. Clicking on this icon will open the Settings window, which is where you can assign new hotkeys for dictation or shortcuts (or Note Assist, if available), among other client settings. Near the top-right of the window is a question mark icon that is a link to the online documentation for Voice. At the bottom are icons used to navigate to other features and information about Voice, including shortcuts, client updates, and training. There's also an icon you can click to sign out of Voice. (B-16376, 12/3/2021)
  • New Training Page - A new training page, accessible from the new graduation hat icon at the bottom of the Settings screen, includes two buttons to help you learn more about nVoq.Voice and nVoq dictation. One button takes you directly to self-guided training for nVoq.Voice. The other one (which is equivalent to the "How do I say..." link in SayIt) takes you to a page with information about how to get the best dictation accuracy, tips for accented speakers, and what words to say in your dictation to add formatting, punctuation, monetary values, and dates and times to your transcript.  (B-16376, 12/3/2021)
  • New Note Assist Error Message for Missing Categories - If Note Assist categories have not been configured for your organization, a message that says, "Note Assist is not set up for you." will appear instead of a list of categories on the Note Assist window. Once categories are added to an organization they are downloaded to nVoq.Voice when you sign in. If categories may have been added to your organization while you were already signed in to nVoq.Voice, sign out of Voice and sign back in and then run Note Assist again. (B-16375, 1/5/2021)
  • Note Assist Categories Use Exact Matching - Words or phrases that are configured in a category for Note Assist must now be an exact, case insensitive match in order to be counted as included in the clinical note. Partial matches of words or phrases no longer work. (B-16386, 1/21/2022)
  • Installation via MSI - nVoq.Voice can now be installed for a group of users using a Microsoft Windows Installer (.msi) package. Instructions for installing with MSI via command line has been added to the Voice documentation. One caveat of this installation method there is no way to specify a target directory for installation. (B-16040, 2/1/2022)
  • See Password Characters You Type - You can now optionally see the password you enter when you sign in to nVoq.Voice, and when you change your password after initial sign in. Click the eye icon to the right of each password field to see the characters you type. (B-16462, 2/9/2022)
  • Link to Note Assist Help - The link to the online help on how to use Note Assist is now linked to the Note Assist window in nVoq.Voice. Click the question mark in the upper-right corner of the Note Assist window to open the Note Assist  documentation in the nVoq Support Center. (B-16450, 2/9/2022)
  • Select from Multiple Note Assist Audits - More than one audit can be added to a tenant organization, and now you can select the audit that you want to use from a menu in the Note Assist window. If there is more than one audit available, Note Assist will automatically run the first one listed (alphabetically) in the Audit menu. To run a different audit, open the menu and select the one want to use, then close Note Assist and re-run it to see categories for the audit you selected at the bottom of the window. If no audit exists for your organization but there are categories available, the Audit menu will say "All categories".  (B-16325, 2/9/2022)
  • EULA Removed - The End User License Agreement (EULA) has been removed from nVoq.Voice. Instead there is will be a new Master Software Subscription Agreement (MSSA) on nVoq's legal page at https://sayit.nvoq.com/company/legal/. Users will no longer be presented with this agreement the first time they sign in or after an upgrade. (B-16461, 2/18/2022)
  • Note Assist No Text Message - If no text is collected when the user clicks the hotkey to run Note Assist, a message that says, "We didn't get any text." appears in the Note Assist window where the categories would normally be displayed. When this happens, you can either type into the Note Assist text area and then click the Run Review button, or close the Note Assist window and place your cursor in your note before tapping the Note Assist key. This message will also appear if no text is collected due to a timing issue, which can occur for users running Note Assist in a virtual desktop environment, like Citrix. (B-16534, 3/4/2022)

Bug Fixes in nVoq.Voice

  • Fix for Odd Behavior If No Match on Initial Password Reset - If you press the Enter key after entering passwords that do not match into the New Password and the Confirm New Password fields on the password reset screen that displays during initial sign in, Voice takes you back to the original credentials sign in screen. This would happen because Enter key was essentially clicking the "Cancel" button on the password reset screen. This has been fixed. In the 17.0.1 version of nVoq.Voice, when passwords in these fields do not match, pressing the Enter key does nothing. Once matching passwords are entered into the New Password and the Confirm New Password fields, the "Change" button becomes active, and pressing the Enter key will click that button. Note: The requirement to change password on initial sign in is a division level setting, so this screen may not present for all users. (D-12841, 12/2/2021)
  • Fix for Problem Dictating Numbers with nVoq.Voice & Wireless Microphone - While using either the iOS or Android nVoq.Wireless Microphone with nVoq.Voice, short dictations of just a number (e.g. "one thousand" or "one") do not paste into the target application and are not available in the user's copy buffer, though they do appear in Review & Correct. This is caused by an issue with how the HTTP dictation (from the Wireless Microphone) is returned to the web service, and has been fixed. (D-12902, 2/14/2022)
  • Fix for Note Assist Window Opening Without Note Text - When a Note Assist user places their cursor into their note and then clicks the Note Assist hotkey, the Note Assist window intermittently opens without the note pasted into it. This may occur when using nVoq.Voice Note Assist in a virtual desktop environment (like Citrix) and could be caused by a timing issue. A new setting on the Note Assist Settings screen allows users to slow the process down. By increasing the Note Assist Delay number, nVoq.Voice will postpone the copy and paste actions to help capture note text and open it in the Note Assist window. (D-12927, 3/4/2022)
  • Fix for Note Assist Removing Carriage Returns Before Pasting Text - When the Update Note button is pressed, Note Assist removes carriage returns before pasting the completed note back into some applications. This has been fixed. (D-12929, 3/7/2022)

nVoq.Administrator 17.0.0

New Features & Improvements in nVoq.Administrator

  • Username Added to Optional Columns on Review & Correct - A new column, "Username", has been added as an optional column available on the Review & Correct page list view. Including this column can be especially helpful when you need to distinguish transactions between users with the same first and last name. It can be added to the list view using the Display Columns menu. (B-16318, 9/20/2021)
  • SYSTEM LEVEL Customer Administrator Two-Factor Authentication -  In the 16.2 release, the ability to require two-factor authentication to sign in to nVoq.Administrator with a System Administrator account was added, but system-level Customer Administrators were left out. The ability to require a system-level Customer Administrator to sign in using two-factor authentication has now been added in the 17.0.0 release. (B-16284, 9/22/2021)
  • Refactored Password and Username Recovery Pages - The previous username and password recovery web pages have been replaced with new ones. This is the web page that you get to by clicking on the "Forgot username or password?" link on the sign in screen. The new pages look a little different, but the functionality of the pages is the same as before. (B-16011, 9/30/2021)
  • Easier to Read Organization Menu - We noticed that administrators are sometimes unable to read the full name of organizations in the organization menu at the top of nVoq.Administrator. This can be frustrating, since you can't tell if you're selecting the correct one. In the 17.0.0 release the width of the drop-down menu has been increased from 250 pixels to 500 pixels to make it easier to read longer organization names. (B-16361, 11/4/2021)
  • Easily Expand the Organization Menu - To make it easier to find organizations in the menu, all levels of the Organization menu at the top of nVoq.Administrator can now be expanded at once by using the new Expand All button on the right side of the Filter on the menu. Then you can easily close all organizations except the one you selected using the Collapse button. The feature is also available on the Add/Edit Account page on the Client Group menu and the Administrator Level menu. (B-16362, 11/16/2021)
  • Error Message & Audio Level Information in Review & Correct Detail Can Now Be Copied - The ability to copy error message status text for items on the Review & Correct page has been added so that it can be pasted into emails to more easily communicate information in support tickets. On the Review & Correct page list view, error information still opens in a tooltip when you hover your mouse over the exclamation point icon, but when you double-click the icon to open the Detail Review & Correct page, you can now click the exclamation point icon near the top of that page to open a modal window. From the modal window the error message can be copied and then pasted into support tickets or emails. Audio Level information on the Detail Review & Correct page now also opens in a modal window when you click on the audio level bar near the top of the page. (B-16420, 12/21/2021)
  • New Note Assist Option for Accounts - There is a new item under Options on the Add Account, Edit Account, and Upload Accounts pages which allows you to enable the Note Assist feature for users in nVoq.Voice and nVoq.Mobile Voice. In nVoq.Voice, this option enables the functionality of the back quote key (`) to run an audit of text based on categories that are configured for a tenant. It also adds an option to the Voice Settings screen from which users can change the default Note Assist hotkey. In nVoq.Mobile Voice, enabling this feature adds the Note Assist key to the keyboard from which the users can run an audit of text based on categories added for the tenant. Currently, customized categories for Note Assist audits can only be added for a tenant by an nVoq representative. (B-16294, 1/10/2022)
  • Enable or Disable Note Assist for Multiple Accounts At Once - A new icon has been added to the blue toolbar on the Accounts page which allows you to enable or disable Note Assist for multiple accounts simultaneously. The actions icon (three stacked dots) appears when one or more accounts is selected in the list view. Click the actions icon to view a menu of actions to take with the account: Enable Note Assist or Disable Note Assist. While Note Assist is being enabled or disabled for multiple accounts there is not a spinner to indicate that work is happening, but a notification message presents success or failure information when the job is complete. (B-16244, 1/12/2022)
  • SYSTEM LEVEL Note Assist Page - On the new Note Assist page in nVoq.Administrator System Administrators can create or edit Note Assist categories for nVoq.Voice and nVoq.Mobile Voice. System Admins can also create separate Note Assist "audits" for nVoq.Voice users. (B-16387, 2/8/2022)
  • See Your nVoq.Administrator Username - You can see your own username when you hover your mouse over the account icon near the upper-right corner of the nVoq.Administrator window, and when you click on this icon. (B-16478, 2/9/2022)
  • See Password Characters You Type - You can now optionally see the password you enter when you sign in to nVoq.Administrator, and when you change your password after initial sign in. Click the eye icon to the right of each password field to see the characters you type. (B-16466, 2/10/2022)
  • EULA Removed - The End User License Agreement (EULA) has been removed from nVoq.Administrator. Instead there is will be a new Master Software Subscription Agreement (MSSA) on nVoq's legal page at https://sayit.nvoq.com/company/legal/. Users will no longer be presented with this agreement the first time they sign in or after an upgrade. (B-16461, 2/18/2022)
  • Enable or Disable Multiple Accounts At Once - Using the new icon that was added to the blue toolbar on the Accounts page, you can enable or disable multiple accounts simultaneously when one or more accounts is selected in the list view. Enabling and disabling accounts happens immediately. If any of the selected accounts is already enabled or disabled, the accounts will remain that way after selecting this option. Accounts will fail to become enabled if one or more of their organizations is disabled OR if the account has a higher Administrator Level than yours. Likewise, accounts will fail to become disabled if they have a higher Administrator Level than yours. (B-16436, 2/21/2022)
  • New Products Setting on Accounts Pages - A new setting labeled, "Products" on the Add Account, Edit Account, and Upload Accounts pages allows you to assign dictation clients to user accounts. This setting is required for all new accounts with Client Access, and when editing an existing account with Client Access going forward, but does not limit the ability to use any client. You can also configure this setting for multiple users at once from the new actions menu on the Accounts list view. (B-16397, 2/22/2022)
  • Ability for Lower-Level Administrators to Disable Non-Billable Toggle - As part of our work fixing issues with the non-billable property on accounts, an improvement was made to the functionality of the Non-Billable toggle on the Edit Account page. Adding Client Access to an existing account that was previously an admin-only account (and therefore automatically non-billable) did not automatically disable the Non-Billable toggle. If the account needed to become billable, the Non-Billable toggle had to be manually disabled. However, this could only be done by system-level and tenant-level administrators. In 17.0.0 the Non-Billable toggle will still be grayed-out for lower-level administrators unless it was previously enabled, allowing lower-level administrators to disable it if needed. (D-12910, 2/24/2022)

Bug Fixes in nVoq.Administrator

  • Removed Space at Bottom of Shortcuts List for Client-Only Users - The list view on the Shortcuts page includes a blank space at the bottom of the list for client-only users which is not present when logged in as a user with an Administrator Role. This has been fixed by increasing the size of the header (gray area) at the top of the page on the client-only view to be the same size as the header for users with an Admin Role. (D-12694, 9/20/2021)
  • Fixed Sort Order of Custom Group Menus - Instead of being sorted alphabetically, groups listed in the Custom Groups menus on the Shortcut Usage Custom Group report and Dictation Usage Custom Group report are sorted in the order that groups were created. This has been fixed in 17.0.0. (D-12762, 9/20/2021)
  • Fixed Incorrect Max Length for Shortcut Name on File Upload - The maximum length for a shortcut name is supposed to be 100 characters, but the file validation for an uploaded CSV file of shortcuts does not allow a name (a.k.a. "Spoken" form) longer than 45 characters. The work-around is to upload the file with a shorter shortcut name and then change it to a longer name manually on the Edit Shortcut page. This has been fixed in 17.0.0; the upload file validation now allows a shortcut name up to 100 characters. (D-12775, 9/20/2021)
  • Fix for Session Timeout If Sign In Delayed After Launching nVoq.Administrator - If you launch the nVoq.Administrator site in the Firefox browser but wait 15 minutes or longer before signing in, nVoq.Administrator presents a session timeout error on sign in and immediatly signs you out. The work-around is to sign in a second time (without waiting for 15 minutes before you do) and you are successfully signed in to nVoq.Administrator. This has been fixed in 17.0.0. Now you can wait as long as you like before signing in to nVoq.Administrator after launching it in the browser and you will still be successfully signed in with proper credentials. (D-12737, 9/20/2021)
  • Fix for Minutes of Audio/Minutes of Dictation Discrepancy in Reports - There is a discrepancy between "Minutes of Audio" listed on the Dictation Usage reports and the "Minutes of Dictation" listed on the Total Usage reports. These numbers should be the same, but the "Minutes of Audio" on the Dictation Usage reports incorrectly includes audio from voice shortcuts in the calculation. This has been fixed in 17.0.0. (D-12662, 9/20/2021)
  • Fix for Upload Delay Calculation Slightly Off Due to Audio Length Rounding - Audio Length shown on the Review & Correct page (in the list view and on the dictation event Timeline tab) is currently rounded to a whole number. If you manually calculate the upload delay for a dictation [audio set to done delta - (audio length * 1000)], the calculation often does not match what is shown on the Review & Correct page for Upload Delay. This is because the webservice uses the the exact number for audio length to calculate the upload delay, rather than the rounded number displayed on the page. In 17.0.0, the Review & Correct page will display the Audio Length with two significant digits instead of rounding to a whole number (e.g. 5.73 instead of 6), and the webservice will use that same number to calculate Upload Delay shown on the page so that manual calculations of upload delay should be the same as what is shown on the page. (D-12773, 9/21/2021)
  • Fix for Variance in "Words in Accuracy" Between SayIt Administrator and nVoq.Administrator Dictation Usage Report - The Dictation Usage Organization Detail report in nVoq.Administrator shows a different number for "Words in Accuracy" than what was displayed in the SayIt Administrator Dictation Usage report. The calculation in the nVoq.Administrator report incorrectly includes dictations that are marked as rejected due to poor quality. This has been fixed in 17.0.0. The Dictation Usage Organization Detail report in nVoq.Administrator will now only include dictation transactions with a status of "Corrected" in the calculation for Words in Accuracy. (D-12663, 9/23/2021)
  • Fix for Blank Enabled Through Dates on Subscription Management Report - Due to poor migration issues, the Subscription Management Detail report could display a blank Enabled Through date for some accounts, even though the correct date displays on the Edit Account page. In the 17.0.0 release, these account will be fixed so that the Enabled Through date on the Subscription Management Detail report displays the Enabled Through date that appears on the Edit Account page.  (D-12734, 12/10/2021)
  • Fix for Enabled Through Date Not Displaying in Firefox - The Enabled Through date for a user account was not displaying on the Edit Account page when accessing nVoq.Administrator using the Firefox browser. (The date would be displayed correctly when using the Chrome browser.) This has been fixed in the 17.0.0 release. (D-12806 12/20/2021)
  • Fix for Changing Client Group Causes Billable Status Discrepancy on Account Page vs. Subscription Management Report - In previous releases it was possible for a user account to appear as "billable" on the Subscription Management Detail report even though the account was "non billable" on the Edit Account page. Changing a Client Group for a user with both Client Access and an Admin Role could automatically change the user account from billable to non-billable on one database table and not in another, causing the discrepancy. Our developers have been fixing these issues in production as they were brought to our attention, but in the 17.0.0 release this issue is fixed for accounts going forward.  (D-12831, 1/11/2022)
  • Fix for Trial Expires Menu Disabled 1 Day Early - The Trial Expires menu on the Edit Account page should be disabled/grayed out starting on the first day of the month (e.g. starting midnight February 1), but in the 16.2 release it is instead disabled all day of the last day of the month (e.g. on January 31). This has been fixed in the 17.0.0 release, so resellers can once again use the last day of the month to ensure that sure all subscriptions are in order. (D-12800, 1/11/2022)
  • Fix for Shortcut Name Referred to as "Spoken" or "spoken form" on Upload Shortcuts Page - The name of a shortcut is what you say to elicit a voice shortcut or what you click or tap on to run a shortcut from a list. It is referred to as the shortcut "name" everywhere except on the Upload Shortcuts page when there is a problem with the file being uploaded. On that page, the error list headers for the file says, "Spoken" instead of "Name" (as in spoken form of the shortcut). This has been fixed. Now the shortcut name is referred to as "Name" everywhere in nVoq.Administrator. Additionally, error messages on the Upload Shortcut page that tell you if there is a problem with your file have also been updated to refer to the "name" instead of "spoken form". (D-12783, 1/13/2022)
  • Fix for Issues Caused by Disabling/Reenabling Client Access Toggle Before Changing Client Group - When creating a new user account with Client Access, if you select a group on the Client Group drop-down menu, accidentally disable the Client Access toggle and then re-enable it, and then select a different Client Group, the account will not be saved correctly. The user account will be listed in both groups on the Accounts page list view when you select either one from the Organization menu. Moreover, when the user records dictation, they are transcribed using the topic from the first group selected, even though the account was saved in a different group. In Review & Correct the user's dictations also appear under both groups, but if an administrator clicks on the dictation under the group in which the account was supposedly saved, the message "Oops, could not retrieve item" is displayed, and the Original Transcript field and dictation Timeline are blank. This has been fixed. Now if the Client Access toggle is accidentally disabled before the Client Group is changed, there will no longer be issues with the webservice saving the change incorrectly. (D-12829, 1/13/2022)
  • SYSTEM LEVEL Fix Sorting Not Saved on Tenants Page - On the System-level Tenants page tenants are automatically sorted alphabetically by name. If you change the sorting (e.g. to sort by creation date), the sorting will automatically be re-sorted by name after a tenant is selected. This has been fixed. Sorting on this page is now remembered after you select a tenant, as well as after you log out and log back in. (D-12808, 2/14/2022)
  • Fix for Subscription Management Report Includes Never Billable Disabled Users In "Billable Users" - When you select the Billable Users radio button on the Subscription Management Detail report, the users you see on the report should only include accounts that were or will be charged a subscription fee during the selected date range. However, the report was erroneously including accounts which were going to be disabled before they would be billed in this configuration. This was caused by the report using an incorrect billing property to determine the billable state of the user. This has been fixed in the 17.0.0 release. Note: This issue does not impact actual billing of users. (D-12819, 2/16/2022)
  • Fix for Unresponsive Page when Creating Shortcuts or Folders - Attempts to create a new shortcut or shortcut folder in some organizations could cause nVoq.Administrator to be unresponsive on the Secure system. This was fixed. (D-12882, 2/23/2022)
  • Fix Error Retrieving Shortcuts - After the 16.2 deployment a user could get an error when trying to retrieve a list of shortcuts if their account was in a division with several groups that also had several disabled shortcuts, and if the account also had at least one account shortcut. A change to a configuration setting was made after that deployment as a short-term fix, but a permanant fix has been made in this release. (D-12789, 1/11/2022, D-12869, 3/4/2022)

nVoq.APIs 17.0.0

  • Audio Length Parameter Added/Updated on Retrieve Transactions - As part of an update to the Audio Length and Upload Delay shown on the Review & Correct page in nVoq.Administrator, the Retrieve Transactions webservice was updated to return audio length with two significant digits instead of rounding to a whole number. The documentation for this API was also updated to include audioLength as a return parameter in the response samples.
