Minimum Requirements

Dictation

  • Dictation on Mobile Voice is only WebSocket (no HTTP).
  • During dictation, an ellipsis (...) appears in the text field where you placed your cursor once you begin speaking as visual feedback that a dictation is processing on the server. The ellipsis should not be included in the transcript once the dictation is complete, but in some instances it is not removed such when the dictation is ended by using the Save or Discard button on the PointCare application, when the dictation is ended by rotating the device or a timeout due to inactivity, when the dictation is ended by tapping on a new form field, or anytime the dictation server does not have a chance to wrap up the dictation.
  • Rotating the device screen from portrait to landscape view will stop the dictation. Mobile Voice may not return the complete transcript, you may not have any Alternate Words suggestions, the partial transcript may be duplicated, and the ellipsis may not be removed from the transcript in this scenario.
  • A screen timeout due to inactivity will stop a dictation that is in progress, and your complete transcript may not be returned and the ellipsis may not be removed from the transcript. As a work-around, touch the screen periodically during a long dictation so it never times out, or set the screen timeout to a length of time that is longer than your dictations.
  • Rapid back-to-back dictations may cause the first letter of a sentence to not be capitalized. We recommend that you pause between dictations to help your transcript return correctly.
  • Rapid back-to-back dictations may drop the first second of audio, causing the first word(s) of the sentence to also be dropped. We recommend that you pause between dictations to help your transcript return correctly.

Typing & Spell Check

  • When typing into an app other than PointCare (Yammer, Samsung Notes, Memo), spell check correction suggestions at the beginning of a sentence always display in lowercase even if you also tap the SHIFT key or are typing in all caps.
  • In the PointCare app, some spell check correction suggestions display in lowercase while others display in uppercase. (However, PointCare will automatically change all text to uppercase when inserted into the app.)
  • Spell check will not return correction suggestions for typed terms that are a valid medical acronym (including HTE, ADN, ANDF, SEH, TAHT, THS, AHD, TME).

Running Mobile Voice with GoToMeeting

  • When running nVoq.Mobile Voice for Android on a GoToMeeting (GMT) session using the Android device as presenter, audio may not go to the keyboard OR the keyboard app may show an error stating, “Insufficient or malformed audio”. This is happening be cause GTM is controlling the device microphone and won’t release it for use with the Keyboard app. The resolution is to turn of the audio on the Android device in the GTM app by tapping the ellipsis in the lower left corner of the screen and selecting "Audio Options". Then select “Turn off audio” in the GTM.

GTM-Android-audio-off

  • With the audio off in the GTM session on the Android device, the user can present on the GTM session and dictate at the same time using the nVoq.Mobile Voice app.
Using the audio on the desktop computer for the GTM rather than on the Android device eliminates the multiple microphone audio distortion issue, which makes GTM usable on the Android device for training.
