Dictation Accuracy Troubleshooting

Article Summary

Issue:

Dictations have very poor recognition accuracy, recordings are poor quality, transcripts do not reflect what is said during dictation, voice client returns words that were not dictated, or dictations are not formatted correctly.

What to do:

What you need to do to resolve the issue depends on whether the issue is with formatting or recognition.

What is a formatting issue?

If dictated words or phrases are being understood by the dictation engine, but do not look how you expect, that's a formatting issue. For example, if you say a blood pressure, and it returns as "one hundred over sixty" instead of "100/60," that's formatting. An administrator is going to have to look into these issues.

What is a recognition issue?

If some of a user's dictated words or phrases are not understood by the dictation engine and incorrect words or phrases return in the transcript, that's a recognition issue. There are some things an end-user can do to try to resolve recognition issues for their own account, but they might need the ability to add substitutions and vocabulary to their account profile. If they are unable to do this they should contact their administrator who can do this for them in nVoq.Administrator.
